Community

Berkeley Yacht Club has a long tradition of service to the East Bay sailing and boating community. The Club has always been active in supporting many aspects of recreational boating, and hosts a number of major competitive events each year. BYC runs one of the most accessible entry-level race series on the Bay, and the BYC meeting facilities are available at extremely low rates to qualified non-profit boating organizations.

BYC members contribute their time and the use of their boats to allow "at risk" youngsters from the Berkeley community to participate in the great sport of sailing. In cooperation with the Berkeley Boosters and the America True organization, dozens of youngsters have experienced the greatest sailing venue in the world and learned teamwork, discipline and self-reliance.
